See You Soon!

Category: Reunion NewsMichelle @ 9:15 am

For all the craziness leading up to it, our reunion weekend turned out perfect. There were more people than expected at the Friday night event. In fact, people surprised us by showing up! Even folks who obviously weren’t on board with the whole weekend came out to enjoy the pre-arranged low-cost drinks and no cover at Play-By-Play. So, thank you! A good time was apparently had by everyone who showed up – we even found some “missing” classmates.

Saturday night was moved to Seagal’s house, and we had a great party. A lot of folks who couldn’t come on Friday appeared on Saturday, and it was so great to see everyone. While I couldn’t make it to Sunday, Jamie took a fair number of photos that show just how cute everyone’s families are. And once again, people who couldn’t make it earlier in the weekend showed up on Sunday.

You can view some photos on Flickr and there are an astounding number of photos appearing on Facebook. Right now, there are albums on Our Facebook Page, but you can find some in individual classmates’ albums as well. We encourage everyone to tag their photos, comment on the photos and post their event photos to the Class Wall.

Our huge thanks to everyone who helped out, supported the initiative from beginning to end (or even just somewhere in between), and showed up. It was great to see everyone on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

It’s been suggested that we all get together for a picnic sometime next summer, and I think that’s a great idea. Catching up with everyone was wonderful and I look forward to doing it again – much sooner than another 10 years.

Cheers!

New Friday Information and Sunday Only Tickets

Category: Reunion NewsMichelle @ 6:40 am

There is an unrelated event on Friday that you might be interested in. A DPHS Alumni Flag Football game is being held at the DPHS Stadium under the lights. You’re welcome to attend the event and then join us at Play by Play afterward. For more information on this event, refer to the Event Page on Facebook.

Again, all classes are welcome at both our Friday and Sunday events.

Tickets to the Saturday event are no longer available! Sorry! If you’re still interested, you can purchase tickets to the Sunday event at Winton Woods. Tickets to the Sunday event are $5 per adult; children are free.  This pays for the cost of the shelter area.

Please note, we are canceling the taco stand as we do not currently have enough people to make it worth their while.

Thanks!

Deadline Extension

Category: Reunion NewsMichelle @ 8:31 am

We’ve worked out a way to extend the payment deadline. You must now purchase your tickets online no later than Monday, August 9.

If you need an alternate payment method, such as cash or check, please contact Seagal. We will be accepting alternate methods through Tuesday, August 10.

After that, payments will not be accepted, as we need to turn in an exact number of attendees to the Hyatt.

Don’t forget – you can also make a donation to the Reunion fund when you buy your tickets. [more information]

New Pricing Structure

Category: Reunion NewsMichelle @ 8:52 am

First off, a huge thanks to everyone who jumped in and bought tickets to our reunion!

Here’s what has happened. We signed a contract to bring a minimum amount of money into the Hyatt. We obviously weren’t going to make that minimum by offering everyone an open bar, so we’ve had to scratch that plan.

Tickets for the Saturday night event ONLY are now $50. That price includes a three-course dinner with dessert, iced tea, and water / coffee, as well as use of the space. If you want alcoholic drinks, you have to buy them from the cash bar. Now, we are depending almost completely on everyone drinking enough so that we make our minimum. This is a huge risk, and one of the reasons we opted for the open bar in the first place.  Ideally, Seagal, Jamie, and I won’t be washing dishes at the Hyatt for the rest of our lives to make up the difference. (I’m only half-joking.)

Sunday is a separate event for which the cost is $5 per adult; kids are free. Why are we charging for a park? It’s not free to rent the shelter.

All tickets, whether you are attending both events or just one, can be purchased on the Buy Tickets page. Friday night does not require pre-purchase.

Some notes about our cash bar on Saturday night:

  • Drink prices already include tax and gratuity.
  • It is a true cash-only bar, no credit. There is an ATM in the lobby and since we’re depending on bar receipts to make our minimum, bring lots of cash. ;)

There’s also a field on the Buy Tickets page if you’d like to make a donation to the Reunion fund. It’s not a joke – we really did expect a lot more people to respond and committed to that many. If you want to make a donation, we’ll thank you profusely.

Open to all DPHS Grads

Category: Reunion NewsMichelle @ 8:34 am

Due to an overwhelming lack of response, we have opened up the Reunion to all grads of Deer Park High School. Did you graduate in 1950? Come on down. How about 2000? You can come too. For 1990 grads, were you closer to people in 1989 or 1991? Invite them. For the most part, we’re still aiming this at 1990 grads, their teachers and families, but we’re happy to have any one else to share in the fun!
